On Nady's Colon

Warning – more information than you might want to know about me ahead
With Xavier Nady temporarily sidelined getting medical advice about his inflammed colon, I thought I’d chime in. Xavier, I feel your pain. He was scheduled to have a colonoscopy done and as a veteran of two of those procedures, I can say without doubt that he wasn’t having a good time while he was away.
Hopefully the doctors will come up with a diagnosis and hopefully it won’t be anything serious. As for me, I was diagnosed as a senior in college with ulcerative colitis. The doc originally had me on Prednisone to knock the inflammation down in my colon. Then I was on a cocktail of Sulfasalazine and folic acid until 2001 when my second colonoscopy showed that UC was in complete remission. In terms of activities, UC never stopped me from doing anything physical – basketball, softball, running, etc. It’s different for everybody and he might not have what I have (or used to have), but I’m optimistic that Nady will be able to play without issues in 2007.

Thanks for the pooper story, Randy. It’s a topic I was avoiding like the plague.

My father has Crohn’s. It can really run you down, so it’s a good thing Nady doesn’t have it.
