The Pirates received the 34th pick in the first round, and the 54th pick in the second round as compensation for the Astros signing free agent Doug Drabek.

The Pirates received the 42nd pick in the first round as compensation for losing free agent Barry Bonds.

Charles Peterson received a $420,000 signing bonus.

Jermaine Allensworth received a $194,000 signing bonus.

Andy Rice received a $160,000 signing bonus.

Kevin Pickford received a $181,000 signing bonus.

Jose Delgado received a $125,000 signing bonus.
