I forgot to mention this yesterday, but the Pirates got Kyle Bloom back from the Detroit Tigers. Bloom was selected by the Tigers in the Rule 5 draft, and was ranked by Baseball America as Detroit’s 29th best prospect, and top left handed relief prospect.
Bloom was solid in July and August last year at AA, posting a 7.65 K/9, 2.72 K/BB, and 0.47 HR/9, after posting a 7.11 K/9, 1.19 K/BB, and 0.97 HR/9 in the first three months of the season. He will go to AA, but won’t be placed on the 40-man roster.
