Draft Pick Updates

A few updates today on the status of two draft picks:

-According to Rocco DeMaro’s Twitter page (@RoccoDeMaro), the signing bonus for Brooks Pounders, originally reported at around $900 K, is actually around $670 K. It may not seem like a huge difference, but that amount was similar to what we paid Wes Freeman AND Jarek Cunningham last year. The Draft Pick Signing Tracker is updated.

-According to this article, 9th round pick Brock Holt is set to sign with the Pirates today, and will be off to State College tomorrow. Here is the quote from the article:

Holt’s business must be handled now since he has been drafted and today is a dream come true sort of day. “Trevor Haley is coming up to Stephenville (Thursday/today) and I’m gonna go ahead and sign and be on a plane on Friday morning headed up to State College, Pa., to start playing. So, I decided to go ahead and take the offer.

The Draft Pick Signing Tracker is also updated with this addition, although no word on the amount he received yet.

Holt hit .348/.425/.560 with 12 HRs and 11 steals in 250 ABs this year for Rice.
