In doing this, you get a prospect who has been labeled a "bonafide ace". If they spend 20 million signing Chapman, they still have about 15 million for the draft, and I believe that would be enough for Harper or Strasburg.

They would probably spend another 5 million or so on later draft picks, and the total pay would be about 65 million next year, which is probably the same as this year's budget.

A rotation of Chapman, Strasburg, Alderson looks like a winner to me.
