According to Jennifer Langosch, the Pittsburgh Pirates have placed relief pitcher Evan Meek on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique strain. Steven Jackson has been called up to replace Meek on the 25-man roster.
The move hurts the Pirates, as Meek was arguably the best reliever in the bullpen, and one of the best pitchers on the team this year. Jackson was recently sent down to AAA for Jose Ascanio, but was eligible to return due to the injury to Meek. My guess is that Jackson will stick around until it becomes time for Phil Dumatrait to come off the 60-day DL (sometime around August 20th).
The 25-man roster and the 40-man roster/payroll have been updated with the moves.
