Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 8/15/09

The Prospect Tracker is updated with tonight’s games.


The Result: Indianapolis beat Columbus 7-0.

-Jose Tabata went 3 for 5 with two runs and a steal.

-Argenis Diaz went 1 for 4.

-Daniel McCutchen pitched six shutout innings, allowing five hits, two walks, and striking out five.

Other Game Notes: Jeff Clement went 0 for 5. Neil Walker went 2 for 5. Robinzon Diaz went 2 for 3 playing first base.


The Result: Altoona lost 4-2 to New Hampshire.

-Gorkys Hernandez played as a pinch runner.

-Pedro Alvarez went 0 for 3 with a walk.

Other Game Notes: Steve Lerud went 2 for 4. Yoslan Herrera pitched five innings, allowing one run, six hits, five walks, and striking out six.


The Result: Lynchburg lost 4-2 to Myrtle Beach.

-Chase d’Arnaud went 1 for 5 with a stolen base.

Other Game Notes: Jared Keel went 1 for 4 with a homer. Tom Boleska pitched three shutout innings, allowing three hits, no walks, and one strikeout.


The Result: West Virginia won 5-4 against Lexington.

-Robbie Grossman went 0 for 3.

-Tony Sanchez went 2 for 3.

-Starling Marte went 1 for 4 with a double.

-Aaron Pribanic pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Other Game Notes: Gabriel Alvarado pitched four innings, allowing one earned run on four hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.


The Result: State College lost 4-3 to Vermont.

Game Notes: Justin Byler went 1 for 4 with a homer. Evan Chambers went 1 for 4.


The Result: Bradenton completed a game that started on August 5th, winning 7-2. They also lost 10-5 to the GCL Tigers.

-Wes Freeman went 0 for 2 with a walk in today’s game. He homered in the August 5th game.

-Gift Ngoepe went 0 for 2 with two walks today. He went 1 for 5 in the August 5th game.

-Ramon Cabrera went 2 for 4 in the August 5th game.

Other Game Notes: Brooks Pounders pitched two innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits, with five walks and no strikeouts. Zac Fuesser pitched 2.1 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on one hit, with five walks and two strikeouts. The only Bradenton pitcher who didn’t give up a run today was Rinku Singh, who pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.
