Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 8/9/09

The Prospect Tracker is updated with tonight’s games.


The Result: Indianapolis lost 8-7 to Charlotte.

-Jose Tabata went 1 for 4.

-Argenis Diaz went 1 for 4.

-Brad Lincoln pitched three innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits, with a walk and a strikeout.

Other Game Notes: Brian Bixler went 3 for 5 with a homer, his ninth of the year. Jeff Clement went 1 for 5 with a homer, his fifth since joining Indianapolis.


The Result: Altoona won 6-3 against New Hampshire.

-Gorkys Hernandez went 2 for 5 with two runs.

-Pedro Alvarez went 4 for 5 with a stolen base.

Other Game Notes: Yoslan Herrera pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits, with two walks and two strikeouts. Shelby Ford went 2 for 5. Miles Durham went 2 for 5.


The Result: Lynchburg beat Myrtle Beach 4-2.

-Chase d’Arnaud went 1 for 4 and was hit by a pitch.

-Jeff Locke pitched 5.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits, with no walks and five strikeouts against his former team.

Other Game Notes: Josh Harrison went 3 for 5 with a homer. Matt Hague went 1 for 3.


The Result: West Virginia won 9-4 against Hickory.

-Robbie Grossman did not play.

-Tony Sanchez went 1 for 4 with a homer, a stolen base, and three RBIs.

-Starling Marte went 1 for 5 with a triple, extending his hitting streak to 22 games.

Other Game Notes: Hunter Strickland pitched six innings, allowing one run on four hits, with a walk and a strikeout. Jeremy Farrell went 2 for 4 with a homer. Kyle Morgan went 3 for 4.


The Result: State College won 3-2 in ten innings against Hudson Valley.

Game Notes: Maurice Bankston pitched six innings, allowing one run on seven hits, with no walks and three strikeouts. Brock Holt went 1 for 5 with a triple. Aaron Baker went 2 for 4 with a double and a run.


Bradenton was off today.
