The list of players who have filed for minor league free agency has been released. I’ve updated the full list of Pittsburgh Pirates players who have declared on the BUCCO Fans.com Wiki. Here are some of the notable names:
Jorge Julio
Ty Taubenheim
Ray Chang
Eric Hacker
Steven Lerud
Jamie Romak
Virgil Vasquez
I wouldn’t mind seeing any of these guys brought back on a minor league deal. I don’t expect any to be a future Garrett Jones, but they either provide good organizational depth, or good depth for the majors in the case of injuries.
As for the next Garrett Jones, I don’t plan on reviewing the entire minor league free agent list to try and find my favorites, although I did do that when the first wave of players hit, if you want to check out some of my comments there. Instead, I’ll just wait and see who the Pirates sign, and do what pretty much everyone else will do: question whether the player signed is the next Garrett Jones.
