Anthony Claggett and Steven Jackson clear waivers

According to Jennifer Langosch and Dejan Kovacevic, relief pitchers Steven Jackson and Anthony Claggett have both cleared waivers and have been outrighted to AAA.  Both pitchers will be non-roster invitees for Spring Training.  The Spring Training tracker has been updated to reflect this, with 62 players now expected to be in camp.

Jackson and Claggett were designated for assignment last week to clear spot for new additions to the roster, specifically Brandon Jones, Brendan Donnelly, and Octavio Dotel.  Both will compete for the last spot in the bullpen, although it’s likely that both players will be used as bullpen depth at AAA should the need arise for them in Pittsburgh.
