Three hits by SS Brock Holt led the Marauders to a total of 9 hits, but they went only 3-for-13 with runners in scoring position, and lost to Fort Myers. The Miracle scored in each of the first three innings, touching starter Aaron Pribanic for 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in his 4 innings. A single and two doubles scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Two walks, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly added another run in the 2nd. A double and two singles brought in one more run in the 3rd.

The Marauders got one run back in the 3rd, when RF/CF Austin McClune walked, moved to second base on a throwing error, and scored on DH Tony Sanchez’s RBI single. They pushed another run across in the 5th, on Holt’s double, a sacrifice bunt by McClune, and another RBI single by Sanchez.

After Pribanic left the game, Mike Colla retired 6 batters in order, including 3 strikeouts. WithTom Boleska on the mound in the 7th, a missed catch error by 1B Calvin Anderson and a throwing error by 3B Jeremy Farrell put runners on first and second. An RBI single scored on unearned run, and a wild pitch brought in a second run, also unearned. A second fielding error by Farrell in the 8th, plus a walk and a single, loaded the bases for reliever Mike Felix, but Felix was able to get two strikeouts to end the threat.

Holt picked up his second double (third hit — he’d opened the game with a single) in the 9th inning, following a single and a stolen base by 2B Greg Picart. Picart scored, but Holt was out at third base on the throw, and a line out to third ended the game before the Marauders could catch up.

Greenville Drive 6, West Virginia Power 1 (box)

Starter Gabriel Alvarado struggled in his 4 innings of work, allowing a total of 4 runs on 6 hits and a walk. Two of the hits were home runs, which came back-to-back in the 2nd inning, the first with a runner on base. A double and a single brought in another run for Greenville in the 3rd. Maurice Bankston took over for Alvarado to begin the 5th, but he also gave up a run on three walks and an RBI ground out. Another home run to lead off the 6th, gave the Drive their 6th run. Bankston pitched a total of 3 innings. Duke Welker and Marc Baca each pitched a 1-2-3 inning to finish up for the Power.

Power batters recorded 6 hits, with two each by CF Evan Chambers and 2B Jarek Cunningham. LF Rogelios Noris also singled, and C Josue Peley had the only extra-base hit, a double. Peley’s double led off the bottom of the 5th inning, the only one in which the Power scored. Chambers and Cunningham both singled, with Cunningham picking up the RBI when Peley scored. Chambers and Cunningham also had back-to-back singles to lead off the bottom of the 1st, but Chambers was picked off first base. DH Kyle Morgan walked, but both he and Cunningham were left stranded. After the 5th inning, Morgan was the only Power batter to reach base for the rest of the game when he got on with a walk in the 8th, but again he was left on base.
