A few notes from today after a great win against the Brewers…
-Brandon Jones has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Indianapolis, according to Dejan Kovacevic. So not much of a change, except Jones isn’t on the 40-man roster anymore. He is eligible for minor league free agency at the end of the season if he isn’t on the 40-man roster at the time.
-Brian Burres will make the start tomorrow in Los Angeles. I’m wondering if the Pirates will keep carrying 13 pitchers, or if they will make a move tonight to add a hitter (maybe calling up Steve Pearce and demoting Brian Bass?). UPDATE: Didn’t see this from yesterday, but it looks like Pearce is the favorite to get the call when that happens later in the week. Still unknown when “later in the week” is, and who will be sent down from the pitching staff.
-At the end of DK’s game story for today, he notes that Jeff Karstens will pitch on Sunday.
