The 2010 40-man roster payroll projection for the opening day roster is now complete. Thanks to USA Today for the salaries of the league minimum players. The Pirates are currently projected for a $37,276,750 payroll in 2010. That number includes the players on the 40-man roster who are not on the 25-man roster, plus the $2 M owed to Ramon Vazquez.
Bobby Crosby, Javier Lopez, Brendan Donnelly, Ryan Church, Zach Duke, D.J. Carrasco, and Jack Taschner can earn performance bonuses that could combine for up to $4.81 M in additional payroll. For details on those bonuses, check their individual player pages, or the 40-man payroll link above.
The Future Payroll Commitments chart has also been updated. Two key additions there are the future status of both Taschner and Carrasco. Both players are eligible for two more years of arbitration beyond the 2010 season, which means the Pirates bought three years of control with each player by adding them to the 40-man roster.
