Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 6/19/10

INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

Indianapolis beat Buffalo 9-3 in 10 innings.  Charlie Morton pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, with three walks and five strikeouts.  Justin Thomas pitched 1.2 shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.  Wilfredo Ledezma pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Jean Machi pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts.

Steve Pearce went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.  Jeff Clement went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.  Jonathan Van Every went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Argenis Diaz went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

ALTOONA CURVE (AA)
Altoona beat Richmond 3-2 in 12 innings, winning on a walk-off wild pitch.  Justin Wilson pitched 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.  Jeff Sues pitched 2.1 shutout innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and striking out one.  Tony Watson, Michael Dubee, and Daniel Moskos each added a perfect inning in relief.

Matt Hague went 4-for-6 with a run scored.  Miles Durham went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Kris Watts went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Josh Harrison went 1-for-5 with a run scored.

BRADENTON MARAUDERS (A+)
Bradenton beat Jupiter 3-2 in 11 innings.  Aaron Pribanic pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, with a walk and a strikeout.  Tyler Cox pitched a perfect inning, with a strikeout.  Ramon Aguero pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and striking out one.  Tom Boleska pitched a shutout inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Calvin Anderson went 2-for-5 with an RBI.  Adenson Chourio went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.  Erik Huber went 1-for-4 with an RBI.  The Pirates acquired Adam Davis from the Cleveland Indians on Friday for cash considerations.  Davis, who is 24 years old, hit for a .225/.333/.375 line in the Carolina League this year in 80 at-bats.  In his debut with Bradenton tonight, Davis went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run, and an RBI.

WEST VIRGINIA POWER (A)
West Virginia lost to Hagerstown 7-4.  Brandon Holden pitched six innings, allowing six runs on 14 hits.  Ryan Kelly pitched the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.

Kyle Morgan went 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Jose Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Jesus Brito went 1-for-4 with a run scored.  Evan Chambers went 0-for-3 with two walks, a run, and an RBI.

STATE COLLEGE SPIKES (A, Short Season)
State College lost to Williamsport 5-3.  Zack Dodson made his debut with State College, pitching four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, with two walks and no strikeouts.  Mitchell Fienemann pitched 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.  Sandobal Septimo pitched 1.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Chase Lyles went 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Miguel Mendez went 1-for-3 with a double, a run, and an RB

I.  Kelson Brown went 1-for-4.  Justin Bencsko went 1-for-4.

VSL PIRATES (RK)
The VSL Pirates beat the VSL Rays 6-1.  Orlando Castro pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and striking out three.  Deivis Goatache pitched two innings, allowing one run on three hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Ashley Ponce went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Luis Cardona went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Carlos Esqueda went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.  Jose Ortiz went 1-for-3 with a homer, two runs, and an RBI.

DSL PIRATES (RK)
The DSL Pirates beat the DSL Red Sox 11-2.  Arquimedes Lorenzo pitched three innings, allowing no runs on two hits, with two walks and a strikeout.  Jimy Hernandez pitched four innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.  Aneudy Merejo pitched two shutout innings, allowing two hits, one walk, and striking out four.

Jodaneli Carvajal went 2-for-5 with two runs.  Jesus Vasquez went 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBIs.  Samuel Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs, and two RBIs.  Raul Fortunato went 2-for-5 with a triple,  two runs, and an RBI.  Willy Garcia went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run, and an RBI.  Diego Goris went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
