Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 7/13/10


Indianapolis was off for the International League All-Star break.
Altoona was off for the Eastern League All-Star break.
Bradenton was off today.
West Virginia was off today.
State College lost 3-1 to Vermont.  Tyler Waldron got the start, allowing one run on four hits in five innings, with a walk and three strikeouts.  Trent Stevenson pitched three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, with two walks and no strikeouts.  Justin Ennis pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Matt Skirving went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Adalberto Santos went 2-for-4.  Kelson Brown went 1-for-3 with a walk.  Gift Ngoepe went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

GCL Pirates (RK, Short Season)
The GCL Pirates beat the GCL Blue Jays 4-2.  Vincent Payne pitched 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks, while striking out one.  Yeyber Sanchez pitched 3.1 shutout innings, with a walk and a hit, and three strikeouts.  Cliff Archibald pitched two shutout innings, allowing two hits, no walks, and striking out two.  Joan Montero pitched a shutout inning, with three walks and a strikeout.

Luis Solano went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored.  Exicardo Cayonez went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.  Brian Friday went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in a rehab appearance.

The VSL Pirates were off today.
The DSL Pirates beat the DSL Astros 5-1.  Arquimedes Lorenzo pitched five shutout innings, allowing a walk and a hit, with two strikeouts.  Luis Valdez pitched 2.1 innings, allowing a run on four hits, with two walks and a strikeout.  Clario Perez pitched 1.2 shutout innings, with one hit allowed.

Alen Hanson went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI.  Leandro Mejia went 2-for-4.  Jodaneli Carvajal went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs.  Luis Urena went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
