Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 7/30/10

INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

Brad Lincoln

Indianapolis lost to Syracuse 8-6.  Brad Lincoln pitched six innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits, with a walk and six strikeouts.  Daniel Moskos pitched 0.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits.  Derek Hankins pitched 0.1 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk.  Corey Hamman pitched a shutout inning, allowing a walk and striking out one.

Jim Negrych went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, two walks, and an RBI.  Jeff Clement went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.  Jonathan Van Every went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.  Brad Lincoln helped himself at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double and a run.

ALTOONA CURVE (AA)

Altoona lost to Richmond 8-4.  For details, check out my game recap.

BRADENTON MARAUDERS (A+)

Nathan Adcock

Bradenton lost 4-3 to Lakeland.  Nathan Adcock pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four runs, one earned, on four hits, with a walk and five strikeouts.  Duke Welker pitched 1.1 shutout innings, allowing three walks.  Tyler Cox pitched two shutout innings, allowing no hits, one walk, and striking out five.

Robbie Grossman went 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Adam Davis went 2-for-4.  Austin McClune went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.

WEST VIRGINIA POWER (A)

Brett Lorin

West Virginia lost to Lakewood 5-3.  Brett Lorin pitched four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.  Mike Williams pitched two shutout innings, allowing a hit and striking out one.  Kyle McPherson made his return, pitching two shutout innings, allowing one walk.

Rogelios Noris went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and a stolen base.  Benjamin Gonzalez went 1-for-2 with a run scored.  Jesus Brito went 1-for-3.

STATE COLLEGE SPIKES (A, Short Season)

Tyler Waldron

GAME STORY

State College lost to Williamsport 7-6.  Tyler Waldron pitched four innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.  Brooks Pounders pitched two innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits, with a walk and one strikeout.  Justin Ennis pitched two innings, allowing two runs on four hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.  Jason Townsend pitched a shutout inning, allowing two hits.

Adalberto Santos went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.  Matt Skirving went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Cole White went 2-for-3 with a triple, a homer, two runs, and two RBIs.  Mel Rojas Jr. went 1-for-5 with an RBI.

GCL Pirates (RK, Short Season)

The GCL Pirates beat the GCL Braves 4-1.  Vincent Payne pitched four innings, allowing a run on two hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.  Dovydas Neverauskas pitched two shutout innings, allowing one walk.  Fraylin Campos pitched a shutout inning, allowing one hit.  Barrett Phillips pitched two perfect innings.

Exicardo Cayonez went 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Kevin Mort went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.  Eric Avila went 1-for-4 with a solo homer.  Starling Marte went 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base.

VSL PIRATES (RK)

The VSL Pirates beat the VSL Tigers 7-4.  Luis Ortiz pitched five innings, allowing a run on five hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.  Richard Montilla allowed two runs on two walks and two hits in 0.2 innings.  Deivis Goatache pitched 1.1 innings, allowing an unearned run on a walk and a hit, striking out three.  Luis Figuera pitched 1.1 shutout innings, allowing a walk and a hit and striking out one.

Luis Cardona went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, and an RBI.  Jose Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a homer, his 10th of the season, and two RBIs.  David Pino went 1-for-3 with a run and two steals.  Carlos Esqueda went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.  Jose Roman went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

DSL PIRATES (RK)

The DSL Pirates lost to the DSL Yankees2 14-5.  Jimy Hernandez pitched three innings, allowing two runs on six hits, with a walk and five strikeouts.  Luis Valdez pitched 2.1 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits, with a walk and two strikeouts.  Aneudy Merejo pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits, with four walks and two strikeouts.  Darling Aldwey pitched one inning, allowing three runs, five walks, and striking out one.

Diego Goris went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Leandro Mejia went 2-for-4.  Willy Garcia went 1-for-5 with a double.  Alen Hanson went 1-for-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.  Jodaneli Carvajal went 1-for-4 with a walk.
