On Saturday I broke the news that 49th round draft pick Logan Pevny had signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Paul Dottino has more on the signing at NorthJersey.com, including the following notes:
-The Pirates will pay Pevny for four years at a state college when he is done playing baseball
-Pevny just made the switch from shortstop to pitcher last year
-Pevny says that scouts have clocked his fastball as high as 92 MPH, and that the Pirates have seen him multiple times in a short period of time over the last few weeks
I’ve also received word that 41st round pick Bryton Trepagnier has signed, although I’m waiting to confirm that. I’ll have something up once it’s confirmed. That would make 17 signings for the Pirates this year.
