Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 8/13/10

INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (AAA)

GAME STORY

Indianapolis beat Syracuse 5-2.  Charlie Morton pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, with a walk and six strikeouts.  Justin Thomas pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Steven Jackson, who accepted his outright assignment to AAA, pitched a shutout inning with a hit and one strikeout.  Jean Machi pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Jason Jaramillo went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.  Pedro Ciriaco went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.  John Bowker went 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Alex Presley went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Earlier today the Pirates traded Travis Chick to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later, and demoted Daniel Moskos to AA.

ALTOONA CURVE (AA)

Altoona beat New Hampshire 4-3 in 19 innings.  Bryan Morris pitched four innings, allowing three runs on four hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.  Mike Colla pitched two shutout innings, allowing three hits.  Derek Hankins pitched three shutout innings, allowing just one walk and striking out one.  Michael Dubee pitched three shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.  Anthony Claggett pitched three shutout innings, allowing two walks and striking out one.  Tom Boleska pitched four shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.

Miles Durham went 4-for-9 with a solo homer.  Josh Harrison went 3-for-8 with two stolen bases.  Andrew Lambo went 3-for-6 with two walks and a run.  Matt Hague went 2-for-6 with three walks.

BRADENTON MARAUDERS (A+)

Bradenton beat Jupiter 12-8.  Tim Alderson pitched five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, with a walk and six strikeouts.  Tyler Cox pitched an inning, allowing two unearned runs on three hits, with one strikeout.  Craig Hansen pitched two rehab innings, allowing two unearned runs on a walk and a hit, with two strikeouts.  Diego Moreno pitched an inning, allowing a run on one hit, with no walks and one strikeout.

Starling Marte went 2-for-5 with a stolen base, and an RBI.  James Skelton went 1-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs.  Calvin Anderson went 2-for-5 with a run and four RBIs.  Quincy Latimore went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI.  Jeremy Farrell went 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk.  Eric Fryer went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

WEST VIRGINIA POWER (A)

West Virginia beat Lexington 10-8.  Jason Erickson pitched 4.2 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.  Marc Baca pitched 2.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits, with two walks and a strikeout.  Gabriel Alvarado pitched a shutout inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Evan Chambers went 2-for-5 with a double, and a solo homer.  Rogelios Noris went 2-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs, and two runs scored.  Elevys Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two RBIs.  Aaron Basker went 2-for-5 with a double, a run, and an RBI.

STATE COLLEGE SPIKES (A, Short Season)

GAME STORY

State College lost to Aberdeen 3-2 in 11 innings.  Zac Fuesser pitched 4.2 innings, allowing a run on three hits, with four walks and five strikeouts.  Mitchell Fienemann pitched 1.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.  Jhonatan Ramos pitched three shutout innings, allowing a hit, no walks, and striking out one.  Justin Ennis pitched 1.1 innings, allowing a run on three hits.

Adalberto Santos went 1-for-5 with a double and a run.  Matt Curry went 1-for-3 with a run scored.  Gerlis Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Kelson Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

GCL Pirates (RK, Short Season)

The GCL Pirates had their game with the GCL Tigers suspended after two innings.  Bryton Trepagnier pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.  None of the Pirates hitters recorded a hit.

DSL PIRATES (RK)

The DSL Pirates lost to the DSL Indians 5-2.  Martires Cadet pitched seven innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits, with three walks and four strikeouts.  Yoan Gonzalez pitched two innings, allowing four runs on five hits, with two walks and no strikeouts.

Samuel Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with a solo homer.  Yeffrey Jaquez went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.  Diego Goris went 1-for-4 with a run.
