Pittsburgh Pirates Prospect Watch 8/17/10


Indianapolis was off.



Altoona beat Portland 4-2.  Tony Watson pitched three innings, allowing two runs on six hits, with three walks and two strikeouts.  Mike Colla pitched three shutout innings, allowing a hit, three walks and one strikeout.  Anthony Claggett pitched two perfect innings.  Daniel Moskos pitched a shutout inning, allowing a walk and a hit.

Jordy Mercer went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run, and an RBI. Josh Harrison went 1-for-4 with a run.  Miles Durham went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.



Bradenton beat Palm Beach 5-1.  Nathan Adcock pitched seven innings, allowing a run on three hits, with no walks and four strikeouts.  Diego Moreno pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Noah Krol pitched a shutout inning, allowing one hit.

Starling Marte went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs.  Robbie Grossman went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.  Jeremy Farrell went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.  Shelby Ford went 1-for-4 with a double and a run.




West Virginia lost to Asheville 4-1.  Phillip Irwin pitched six innings, allowing four runs on six hits, with two walks and no strikeouts.  Zach Foster pitched two perfect innings.  Maurice Bankston pitched a shutout inning, allowing one hit.

Evan Chambers went 2-for-3 with a run and his 30th stolen base of the season.  Aaron Baker went 2-for-3 with a walk.  Benji Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with his 15th stolen base of the season.



State College was off for the NYPL All-Star Game.  Matt Curry went 0-for-2.  Adalberto Santos went 0-for-1 with a walk.  Jhonatan Ramos pitched a shutout inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.

GCL Pirates (RK, Short Season)

The GCL Pirates lost to the GCL Blue Jays 2-0.  Jarryd Sullivan pitched three shutout innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and striking out one.  Emmanuel De Leon pitched a shutout inning, allowing a hit and striking out two.  Bryton Trepagnier pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit, three walks, and no strikeouts.  Yomar Pacheco pitched two innings, allowing two runs on a hit, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Justin Howard went 1-for-4 with a double.  Jorge Bishop went 1-for-3 with a double.  Those were the only hits by the Pirates.


The DSL Pirates lost to the DSL Royals 5-4 in a game that was completed in the sixth inning.  Arquimedes Lorenzo pitched four innings, allowing three runs on two hits, with three walks and two strikeouts.  Cristopher Richardson pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on one hit, with three walks and two strikeouts.

Jesus Vasquez went 2-for-3 with two doubles.  Jodaneli Carvajal went 1-for-2 with two runs, a walk, and his 23rd stolen base of the season.  Luis Urena went 2-for-3 with a run and a stolen base.  Alen Hanson went 1-for-3 with a run.
