I think this is pretty simple … Adam Loewen would be one of the three best OFs on the Pirates from day one. Very high ceiling. For the Bucs this is Christmas a few weeks early. An easy guy to put in the lineup 100+ games (perhaps as a platoon in 2011).

I would favor using a second round pick as well. Among the pitchers I like Adam Miller, Pelzer, and the pitcher from Durham (Rodriguez). Pelzer and Rodriguez would be fine in the pen. Miller is more iffy but possibly a fine starter.

With Collins out of the running I think its a choice between Adam Miller and Brad Emaus. Miller seems to have the highest upside of the eligible people and Emaus can immediately fill a need. With LaRoche and Young both released, Emaus would fill the need for a bench infielder with a decent bat. I really don’t want both Diaz and Ciriaco on the team.

FYI, according to a Royals prospect blogger, Coleman isn’t eligible for the Rule 5 this year.
