Not a big surprise here, but Frank Coonelly mentioned in his chat today that Ross Ohlendorf and Joel Hanrahan would both be tendered offers before tonight’s midnight deadline. Ohlendorf is Super Two eligible, while Hanrahan is in his first normal year of arbitration.
According to Coonelly, the Pirates are trying to work out pre-arbitration deals with their remaining players, Lastings Milledge, Ronny Cedeno, and Jeff Karstens.
We heard yesterday that the Pirates were interested in J.J. Hardy and Jason Bartlett. There hasn’t been any news on either player today, but my guess is that if the Pirates acquired one of those two players, they would non-tender Cedeno. There has also been some talk that Karstens could be on the bubble. Of the three remaining players, I’d only be surprised if the Pirates non-tendered Milledge.
