There’s a chance he could learn to hit against right handers, but it’s very unlikely at this stage in his career.

They’ve already said they will move McCutchen to the bullpen full time.

I agree that 1-2 of those guys could start the season in the AAA rotation if they left 1-2 of the Altoona pitchers back. Eventually they need to move guys like Crotta, Martinez, and Gallagher to the bullpen, since there won’t be enough room for them as starters.

Regardless of who starts the year in AAA, I don’t see any of the Altoona pitchers in the majors before June. I think Karstens, Morton, and Lincoln will be the first options if they need pitching help prior to June.

Daniel McCutchen,Michael Crotta and Joe Martinez are also starting options down there.

I think Locke gets left back and possibly Wilson at least to start the year although I don’t agree with that thinking. I’d rather keep Karstens and another long man in the bullpen as spot starters(probably Olsen) and not go with an inferior AAA option just to save other guys from being rushed
