Garrett Atkins and Brian Burres Contract Details

Atkins will receive $800,000 if he makes the majors.

Jennifer Langosch has the contract details for Garrett Atkins and Brian Burres.

Atkins will receive an $800,000 salary in the majors.  He also has the following incentives based on plate appearances: $25,000 each for 300, 350, and 400 PAs, $50,000 each for 425, 450, 475, and 500 PAs.  He also has the usual awards incentives.  Atkins can request his release if he’s not on the roster on April 1st or June 1st, giving him two opportunities to opt out of his deal.

Burres will receive a $600,000 salary in the majors.  He can also choose to sign with an Asian team for $50,000 between now and Opening Day, or for $100,000 during the regular season.

    Do not have a clue why Atkins, but Brian Burres was a very effective SP for us in Sep/Oct last year. Six starts, 5 of which were quality starts where he was 2-1, 2.32 ERA. I hope he gets a chance to at least work out of the BP as a long term LH reliever/spot SP.
