Pirates Exchange Figures With Hanrahan and Ohlendorf Tomorrow

Ohlendorf and the Pirates are set to exchange figures tomorrow.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will exchange arbitration figures with Joel Hanrahan and Ross Ohlendorf tomorrow, moving them one step closer to getting all of their arbitration eligible players under contract.  A quick refresher on the arbitration process from this point on for Hanrahan and Ohlendorf:

-The Pirates and the individual players will exchange salary figures for the 2011 season.

-Arbitration hearings take place from February 1st-21st.

-The two sides can choose to meet in the middle of the salary figures, or go to arbitration.  They have up until the arbitration hearing to reach a deal.

-If the two sides go to arbitration, an arbitrator will award one of the two salaries to the player for the 2011 season.

In my 40-man roster/payroll projection, I have Ohlendorf getting $2.2 M as a Super Two player, and Hanrahan getting $2 M in his first year of arbitration.  I will be updating the projections tomorrow with the mid-point of the figures for each player.

  1. The Bucs need to offer Hanrahan a contract of more than one year at a sufficient monetary figure to avoid arbitration.
