Pirates Sign Cuban Pitcher Cesar Lopez for $600 K

Ben Badler of Baseball America reports on a signing from back in September that hasn’t been announced yet.  The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms with Cuban right handed pitcher Cesar Lopez for $600,000 in September.  The deal is still pending the result of Lopez getting his visa. Ohlendorf Wins Arbitration Hearing

According to Colin Dunlap, Ross Ohlendorf has won his arbitration case against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  The decision means that Ohlendorf will receive $2.025 M for his 2011 salary.  That’s a raise of $1,586,000 over his 2010 salary, and an extra $625,000 over the $1.4 M the Pirates were offering.
