A few 2011 draft prospect notes heading in to the weekend:
-Anthony Rendon will probably DH in this weekend’s series against USC, according to MK Bower of Fox Sports Houston. Rendon has been dealing with a shoulder strain lately.
-For Rendon coverage, check out the Rendon Watch blog by Joseph Duarte at the Houston Chronicle.
-Joe Lemire of Sports Illustrated has a look at Rendon, Gerrit Cole, and Matthew Purke in their battle for Player of the Year and for the number one overall pick.
-Jim Callis of Baseball America said that he would rank Cole ahead of Jameson Taillon. Makes sense, since Cole is playing at a level that is equivalent to high-A, while Taillon has yet to throw a professional pitch, but it also really speaks to the talent level for Cole.
-Matt Purke will have his start held back until Sunday to give a blister on his index finger extra time to heal, according to Aaron Fitt of Baseball America.
