Six-Run Inning Stops Pirates, But Indians Get A Win

Jeff Locke made the start for the Indians, and earned the win with 3 innings of work, allowing one run (2nd inning) on 3 hits.  The Indians took a 3-run lead in the top of the 1st.  C Ryan Doumit and CF Alex Presley both singled, and Andrew Lambo’s double plated both runners.  SS Chase d’Arnaud was hit by a pitch, and scored the third run of the inning on a passed ball.  The Indians scored again in the 6th, when 2B Brian Friday walked and stole second, then C Eric Fryer singled him home.  Reliever Noah Krol pitched the last two innings.  He gave up a run (9th inning) on 3 hits, and earned the save.
