		<description><![CDATA[I&#039;m always surprised at how low the ERA&#039;s were during this generation of baseball.  Does anyone know when the pitching mound was lowered, thereby greatly assisting the batter?  After one read of this fine article, I don&#039;t recall a Pirate pitcher&#039;s ERA over 4.00 throughout the &#039;70s....I remember the Garner and (especially) Madlock trades, but I&#039;m glad to have the chance to more fully put together the 1979 team.]]></description>
