Does anyone know when the pitching mound was lowered, thereby greatly assisting the batter? After one read of this fine article, I don’t recall a Pirate pitcher’s ERA over 4.00 throughout the ’70s….I remember the Garner and (especially) Madlock trades, but I’m glad to have the chance to more fully put together the 1979 team.
