According to Colin Dunlap, Garrett Olson has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Indianapolis. The Pirates claimed the left handed reliever in the middle of March, at a time when Joe Beimel was injured and expected to miss the start of the regular season. Beimel recently returned, and his addition to the roster forced the Pirates to waive Olson.
Olson will be eligible for minor league free agency after the season. With today's additions to the Indianapolis bullpen, along with the demotion of Olson, you have to wonder if someone will be on the outside looking in.
