Pirates Agree to Terms With 21st Round Pick

Fuselier will be playing with State College this year.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms with 21st round pick Alex Fuselier, Pirates Prospects has learned.  Fuselier, a center fielder out of the University of Louisiana Lafayette, is expected to join the State College Spikes.

Fuselier’s numbers in college weren’t as impressive as what you typically see, but his school seems to have played in a slightly low-offense environment.  He was the team’s second-best hitter in his junior year.  He saw a spike in his power in 2011, mostly from extra base hits, which is notable considering the new bats.  He also pitched some in college.  He’s a good all around athlete, with a good arm, but will likely serve as an organizational guy in the Pirates system.

The Draft Pick Signing Tracker is updated with the move.  The Pirates have now signed eight players.
