Pirates Sign Dan Gamache

Gamache has been signed for $125 K.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed 6th round pick Dan Gamache for $125,000, according to Baseball America.  Gamache was a third baseman out of Auburn, hitting for a .299/.414/.464 line in 194 at-bats in 2011.  He hits to all fields, but doesn’t have much power.  A lot of his value comes on defense, with good range and a strong arm.  Gamache will likely play for the State College Spikes this year, who begin their season on Friday.

The Draft Pick Signing Tracker has been updated.

  1.    After seeing Avila plays 3 days in a row I’m wondering if they may send him to State College and put the college kid ahead of him figuring Gamache could handle low-A ball better right now

  2. John…good obs.

  3. This was a pretty good sleeper pick IMO. He may not work out, but I reluctantly give NH a thumbs up.
John, I think your thoughts are valid, but is it possible Avila and Gamache get abou a month to see if what should happen next….
