I partially agree, but I feel the frustration with Veras (at least mine) is his inability to throw strikes. He has been walking the leadoff hitter in almost every appearance lately, and he ran up 3 ball counts on the majority of hitters he faced yesterday. You just can't have an 8th inning guy that is going to put the tying run on first base without even making the other team work for it.

I think we also owe a good bit of this to Clint Hurdle. I know Tim's stance on the role of the manager, but I think Hurdle has done a lot for this team. He's helped with the attitude mentality of the team. His in game calls have been nearly perfect as far as knowing his players and who to bring in during what situation, rather it be pitching, defense, or pinch hitting.

Ray Searage also deserves some credit here because the truth of the matter is, the pitching has done a COMPLETE 180 from last year.

Great perspective.
People.....last year at this time the Pirates were 23-44.
And we already have 2 more road wins than ALL of 2010.

Incredible turnaround, and we owe almost all of it to pitching and defense.
