Well Marte is the one guy that it hurts to give up there but a OF of Tabata, McCutchen, Kemp would be worth it.

The Pirates the last few years have seemed to make a living off of taking players that used to be prospects and have seemed to be in the organizational doghouse. I think they should do more of that around the trade deadline.

Clint Robinson- KC DH/1B: Last year won the triple crown in the PCL and is on pace to do the same this year. He is severely roadblocked with Hosmer and Butler. If he hasn’t gotten the call yet, what’s he have to do? The Pirates should be able to get him on the cheap for one of our SP prospects, probably one out of the top 10.

Jesus Flores- C WAS: I was surprised his name never came up when looking for a catcher. He’s stuck in Washington where they have Wilson Ramos now and Derrick Norris waiting in the wings. Injuries have plagued him throughout his career but it’d be a cheap, reasonable chance for catching depth before Sanchez is ready.

Lars Anderson- 1B BOS: Once former top prospect (think B. Wood) but now that they have Gonzo he’s stuck in AAA. Maybe he’s only a AAAA player but it’d probably be a cheap get if we offered Boston something they need for the playoff push (reliever).

These guys can’t be worse than we is currently at their position. I also think it’s time to cut bait with someone like Gorkys Hernandez for whatever we can get.

I don’t like the look of either of those trades. They may be fair but they aren’t moves the Pirates should make. There is probably a move to be made but its not for a start like those two; its for a young 1B, SS or RF with team control left who can be had by trading the likes of Morris, Owens, Hernandez, etc not Sanchez, Marte, Allie, etc.

I thought about the Royals as a possible trade partner. Particularly Billy Butler but I think he may be a bit expensive, even though the presence of Hosmer might make the Royals at least consider it. Also on the Royals Melky Cabrera could be a decent short term fix for RF.

I don’t want to mess with the farm system. It is better but not great It took the Rays about ten years of good drafting to turn that team around. We just had our 4th draft and we don’t know what players will sign and we are years away from know what we have when they do sign, hell we don’t even know what we have with Pedro and Tony let alone Taillon and the others.

I love what this pitching staff is doing but I can’t see it continuing all year. Let’s see what happens the rest of the year and then make reasonable decisions in the off season.

Looks fair but I don’t think I would give up Marte. He could be up in the next 1.5 to 2 years. He can take center field and Cutch can move over.

Both of those trades look terrible to me as a Pirate fan. Reyes no thanks… Pence maybe but not for the farm. Why not go after Dodger players like Kemp, Either, and Carroll? The team cant make salary this month why not make a offer for one of them? I dont expect a Aramis Ramirez deal but I would try. A offer of Garrett Jones, Starling Marte, Brad Lincoln, and Gorky Hernandez would seem fair for Kemp.

Matt Kemp- could play LF in PGH move Tabata to RF

Garrett Jones is a cheap option for LA until Marte takes over. Lincoln seems to have fallen behind Owen and possibly Wilson. Gorky will never pass McCutchen.

Does this seem fair?

If a trade target was a power hitting 1B on a cellar dwelling team, then I’d probably be more open to trading Lincoln, Tabata or Allie. The Bucs have such a power outage at the corner infield spots, it’s hard to see them being able to win consistently during the next two month and remain contenders if things don’t change.
