Minor League Schedule: 7/10/11

Indianapolis will take their all-star break following today’s game and resume their schedule on Thursday.

Waldron allowed two runs in six innings during his last start

AAA: Indianapolis (46-45) @ Louisville (49-42) 2:05pm
Probable starter: Garrett Olson (3-0 2.22)

Garrett Olson takes the mound today as Indy heads to the all-star break. He looks to remain undefeated as he makes his 9th start of the year to go along with 5 relief appearances. As a starter he has allowed just 16 hits in 35.2 innings pitched.

AA: Altoona (37-50) VS Bowie (45-41) 6:00pm
Probable starter: Aaron Pribanic (5-7 4.11)

Pribanic is making his 17th start of the year tonight. At home this year he is 4-4 3.81 in nine starts. Aaron gave up 3 runs in 6 innings in his last start on Tuesday. In his last game VS Bowie he gave up 4 runs on 10 hits in 5 innings. He has issued just 11 walks on the year in 89.2 innings pitched. Altoona is just 3-15 in their last 18 games.

High-A: Bradenton (40-47 overall 10-7 2nd half) VS Lakeland (42-42 overall 6-8 2nd half) 5:00pm
Probable starter: Nate Baker (5-5 3.89)

Baker will make his 15th start of the season today, he has also made 4 relief appearances. At home this year he has a 3-3 4.93 record in 6 starts and two relief appearances. In his last start he gave up two runs in 8.1 innings and in the previous start he struck out eight batters. In his last 10 games Nate has a 3-2 2.49 record in 47 innings pitched.

Low-A: West Virginia (41-44 overall 6-11 2nd half) @ Hagerstown (51-36 overall 11-6 2nd half) 4:05pm
Probable starter: Tyler Waldron (6-4 4.16)

Waldron will get his 14th start of the year today. He threw 6 innings on Tuesday giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, one walk and he struck out six. This year on the road he is 1-3 5.14 in eight starts. West Virginia is 1-8 in the month of July and 2-6 on the season versus Hagerstown.

Short Season A: State College (5-18) VS Batavia (13-10) 6:05pm
Probable starter: Matt Benedict (1-0 1.50)

State College currently sits in last place in their division, ten games behind the 1st place Jamestown Jammers. Only the Aberdeen Ironbirds(4-19) have a worse record in the NYPL.

Rookie: GCL Pirates (11-7) VS GCL Yankees (10-8) 12:00pm 7/11

The GCL Pirates are in 1st place, tied with the Phillies.

VSL: VSL Pirates (28-18) VS VSL Tigers (16-30) 11:00am 7/11

The VSL Pirates are in first place and have a 2 1/2 game lead over the 2nd place Mariners and Rays.

DSL: DSL Pirates (21-12) VS DSL Rays (16-17) 10:30am

The DSL Pirates are in 1st place, tied with the DSL Red Sox

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
