exciting player. Plays like Willie Mays,” said Gayo. Earlier today, the
Bucs signed Ramirez for $1.05MM.”

JoeGonzo………click on the link Tim had when he first talked about the article. Nobody there seemed to think it was worth signing him ‘from what was written about him’.

This guy may become a Miguel Cabrera for all I know.

I don’t know what is worse……..not saying what you feel or have someone pound you for saying what you feel.

Everyone has opinions….just because you don’t agree with them doesn’t make them bad opinions.

geez……..I was hardly writing him off, guys. I’m a big a supporter of the FO. Its just that the writeup didn’t sound all that great. Now, the writeup on Heredia is another matter.

Take a ‘thick’ 5’11 16 year old who doesn’t have much power projection and it SOUNDS like he has nowhere to go, but get fat.

I never said I know anything about him or know more than the front office. I am just going by the writeup.

Geez, sorry to have said anything negative. I didn’t know that wasn’t allowed.

I agree. Not every future star Latin American comes with a great write up when he signs as a 16 year old. Its not like 16 year old is going to mean the peak of their physical maturity. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to grow to 6’4” sometime before he is twenty, developing the raw power to make even a prospect like Bryce Harper recognize him as one of the best power hitters in the league. Not saying this is going to happen, but it seems like it is a lot easier to criticize a move like this because you are likely to be right when you do. Latin American prospects bust more often than not, so instead of attempting in vain to evaluate these guys yourself, let guys like NH and Gayo do it for you and trust them. Even if the guy is “only” a 5’11” OF with plus-plus speed and the potential for MUCH more.

It’s totally a waste to sign a 16 year old with plus-plus speed….totally. They should have used that money to do something that satisfies you. What idiots to assume that they know more about these international players than someone as obviously in the know as yourself. If only our front office was run by someone like you…

i remember a time when alex presley was an afterthought, that he also wouldnt show any power as he advanced…

dont write off a player so early, especially one with a 7 figure bonus.

That writeup doesn’t thrill me. Doesn’t look like he is gonna get any better and ‘thick frame’ sounds like his plus-plus speed will get bogged down.

They must see something in him. But the writeup doesn’t sound good.
