Nice to see Pounders get some compliments. Really not sure why there were "questions" about Pounders on draft day. He was an Aflac All American, a Rawlings All American, and three time All State player in high school in Southern Ca......The hotbed of baseball talent. Turned down a University of Southern California scholarship to sign with the Pirates. Probably was a better position player/hitter than he was a pitcher. Just because Baseball America saw him one time his velo was down, that makes him a non prospect??? There are a ton of pitchers making millions of dollars per year that throw 88-91MPH fastballs. Give the Pirates scouts some credit. He was also the first player to sign and get to Pirate City after the draft in 2009. It was important for him to sign quickly, and get that first half season in with the GCL Pirates, not hold out for several weeks for a few bucks more. Do not be surprised to see him play this game at the highest levels and have success. He has a lot of fans here in So.Cal.....soon he will in Pittsburgh as well. Wait until he starts hitting!.....By the way...his 28 pitch inning included an 11 pitch at bat from the first hitter he faced......Got him out..... Must have just kept pumping strikes in there for that to happen.
