The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed right handed pitcher Aaron Heilman to a minor league deal, according to Jenifer Langosch. Heilman has a career 4.40 ERA in the majors, including a 6.88 ERA in 35.1 innings this year. He will report to AAA, likely to provide depth for the Indians. Indianapolis just saw Tim Wood traded to Texas, Tony Watson promoted to the majors, and Ross Ohlendorf is expected to be promoted for Tuesday’s start.
The Pirates were interested in Heilman as a reliever this past off-season.
