They did say that he appears to be the most ML ready of any of our young arms, but I would hope that they want to groom him as a starter and let him work his way up. Most likely they'll start him in High A and move him into AA next season if he looks good.

I think you're 1 year too early on all your guesstimates.
Cole - let's say he starts 2012 in High A, hopefully for a tuneup. He would be in AA for the 2nd half. 2013 he gets a stint in AAA and joins PGH in June/July.

Taillon - 2012 starts in High A. If things go well he gets a taste of AA (like Shelby Miller for STL). 2013 he starts in AAA and sees PGH as a September callup. In 2012 his innings will be 140-150 with 2013 being 180.

Heredia - 2012 he plays all year in Short Season. 2013 is Low A. 2014 is High A/AA. 2015 is AAA with a Sept callup.

The Pirates don't need to get a ROI with any of these guys. Their bonuses are all "sunk costs" and they just want development and full health at this point.

I don't think you will see Allie as a starter in the bigs, but yes, he will be a good closer, 8th inning man, if he can harness the control issue.
Cole , you may see sometime in 2012, but for sure, he will be penciled in as a starter by 2013, since the Pirates feel they better get a return on their investment, sooner than later.
Taillon, will brobably be in AA and AAA by the end of next season, with a possible september callup based on his amount of innings, and his progress.
Heredia, won't be a major league pitcher until 2014 at the earliest, again, depending how the he progresses, and the need of the Pirates to get something out of the investment, sooner than later.
All in all, they should have a pretty good rotation , by the time Mc Cutchen's walk year is about to happen.

Again, I ask - why take a guy #1 overall, who was completely outshined by his teammate that went #3 overall, has dominating stuff, strikes out 1.5+x the # of batters and is already at AA w/ a near 15K/9 inning K rate? I'm talking about Trevor Bauer. This isn't to say Cole isn't going to be good, I hope he will be. I'm afraid 5 years from now everyone will be wishing the Bucco's took Bauer instead. I hope I'm wrong!

Comp listed for former Buc draftees, but how would the fab 4 stack up vs. a top rotation of today, if they pan out?

Could Allie, at his young age, fall back on his position experience if he doesn't pan out and return to every day status. Heard he was a good prospect at SS I believe.

Am I right in thinking in April and may it was being written that Cole was ML-ready?
