The Pittsburgh Pirates have added six players to the active roster today, highlighted by third baseman Pedro Alvarez. Along with Alvarez, the Pirates recalled left handed pitchers Jeff Locke, Aaron Thompson, and Daniel Moskos.
They also purchased the contract of right handed pitcher Jared Hughes, and activated Evan Meek from the 60-day disabled list, recalling him to the majors. To make room on the 40-man roster for the last two moves, the Pirates have transferred Kevin Correia and Paul Maholm from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list....
