The Mesa Solar Sox beat Salt River today by a score of 13-7, thanks to three home runs from two Pirates prospects. Robbie Grossman led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer, his second leadoff homer in as many nights, and his fourth homer of the AFL season. The home run put him tied for the league lead in homers. Grossman also singled, ending up 2-for-4 on the day with a homer, two RBIs, a walk, and two strikeouts.
Jarek Cunningham had a bigger day, going 3-for-5 at the plate, with two homers, and a triple. Cunningham's first homer came in the third inning with no one on. His next homer came in the fifth inning with two on, bringing in three of his five RBIs on the day. He now has three homers on the year, one behind Grossman.
