Arizona Fall League Recap: 10/10

The Mesa Solar Sox lost 4-3 to the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Robbie Grossman started in right field and batted leadoff.  Grossman went 2-for-5 with an RBI.  His hits came in his first two at-bats of the game.  Grossman has played in all six Mesa games, and has a hit in five of those six games, with a .333 average in 27 at-bats.

Jarek Cunningham started at second base, going 0-for-2 with a walk, and an RBI on a sacrifice fly.  Cunningham only has two hits on the season in 17 at-bats, but has played in five of the six games for Mesa.

Michael Colla made his second appearance, pitching 1.2 shutout innings, allowing a hit, a walk, and striking out one.  However, Colla blew the save in the fourth inning, allowing his only inherited runner to score, tying the game at 3-3.

Mesa plays Scottsdale tomorrow at 3:35 PM EST.

When is Cole making his afl debut?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=72405411 Ian Rothermund

I read an article that said Cole was only scheduled to be in the instructional league for two weeks.  Assuming there’s any truth to that, he should be leaving for Arizona soon.

      • http://www.piratesprospects.com Tim Williams

Cole was expected to make a few more starts in instructs after his first start. He’s probably made two starts by now since I heard this. Not sure on the exact date that he’ll go to the AFL.

Cole will be making his debut on Friday 10/14 at 12:30 AZT., Vs. Surprise Saguaros.
