Due to his strong defense and reasonable priced option Cedeno should be retained with Ciriaco as the backup middle infielder. If Cedeno loses focus or whatever causes his up and down play Ciriaco could step in and be evaluated at the major league level while Mercer and d’Arnaudcan continue to develop.

Would their really be a difference in Wins if we keep Cedeno? Maybe, but not buy much.

I don’t see much evidence that “d’Arnaud has better defense at the shortstop position.” While I know minor league defensive stats are even worse than ML, Mercer shows up with a better fielding percentage, range factor, and defensive runs rating at shortstop. Nor have I heard much scouting buzz to this effect. What have I missed?

If we didn’t plan on keeping Wood why give him AB’s over Ciriaco late in season? Another senseless move by our FO, anyone surprised?
