Steve Pearce Elects Free Agency

Baseball America reports that Steve Pearce has elected minor league free agency.  Pearce was the only player eligible for minor league free agency that we hadn’t heard about yet, with the other players already electing free agency.  The Pirates outrighted Pearce to AAA after the season, and because he had at least six years of pro experience, he was able to opt for free agency, rather than remaining in the system.

      that and a swing made for beer league softball…  he still has a chance at being a utility guy if he keeps working out at 3B
