Winter Leagues 11/17: Hague Walks Four Times

Thursday’s winter league action with Pirates’ players and friends:

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Toros del Este 8, Estrellas de Oriente 6

Following his two hit game on Wednesday night, Matt Hague had another interesting game for the Bulls.  Hague went 1-for-1 with a run scored, and walked four times in the 8-6 victory.  Pedro Ciriaco started at shortstop and went 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Tim Wood pitched an inning, allowing an unearned run on one walk, with one strikeout.  New Pirates prospect Jose Diaz got the win, throwing a shutout inning, allowing one walk and striking out one.

 

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Navegantes del Magallanes 7, Leones del Caracas 2

Ramon Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a strikeout for the Lions.  Former Pirate Jose Ascanio pitched a shutout inning, allowing just one hit.

Cardenales de Lara 3, Caribes de Anzoategui 2

Gorkys Hernandez was the only Pirates prospect who played, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout as the starting center fielder.

 

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Leones de Ponce 4, Indios de Mayaguez  2

Jeremy Farrell went 0-for-4 with a strikeout as the only current Pirate to play.  Former Pirates prospect R.J. Rodriguez pitched a shutout inning for the Lions, converting his sixth save of the year.
