Winter Leagues 11/28 — Quiet Night

Published:

Only one Dominican League game and one Venezuelan League game on Monday night:

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Tigres del Licey  3,  Estrellas de Oriente  2

A single, a wild pitch, and a passed ball gave Licey the winning run in the top of the 11th inning, and Los Estrellas could not answer in the bottom of the frame.  DH Jake Fox walked in the bottom of the 1st, when Los Estrellas scored their first run.  After Los Tigres scored 2 in the top of the 3rd, Los Estrellas tied the score on a solo home run by CF Felix Pie in the bottom of the 6th.  Fox went 1-for-3 with a lead-off single in the bottom of the 9th.  He was replaced by a pinch-runner, who reached as far as third base, but was left stranded.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Navegantes del Magallanes  10,  Leones del Caracas  4

Former Pirate Jean Machi earned his 3rd win with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief for Magallanes.  Los Navegantes scored 5 runs over the first three innings.  Another former Pirate, SS Argenis Diaz singled and scored in the 2nd inning.  Los Leones started chipping away at the lead, scoring one run in the 3rd, one in the 4th (on four walks), and two in the top of the 7th.  Machi came on to finish the top of the 7th, and he was the pitcher of record when Los Navegantes knocked out 3 runs in the bottom of the inning, including a 2-RBI double by Diaz.  Machi pitched a scoreless top of the 8th, and his teammates gave him two more runs in the bottom of that inning.  2B Corey Wimberly went 0-f0r-4 for Caracas, and C Ramon Cabrera was hitless in his only plate appearance after coming in as a late-inning defensive replacement.
