Winter Leagues 11/8– RBI Single For Hague

Pirates’ players and friends in Tuesday’s winter league action:

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Indios de Mayaguez  2,  Criollos de Caguas  1

A walk and two singles gave Mayaguez their first run in the 3rd inning.  Both teams scored in the 5th — Los Indios on a single, a bunt, and a double, then a solo homer by Los Criollos.  3B Jeremy Farrell went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts.

 

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Leones del Escogido  6,  Toros del Este  2

Six runs in the bottom of the 4th gave this game to Los Leones.  That inning included a 3-run homer and a triple.  Los Toros scored one run in the top of the 6th, when a batter reached on a fielding error, moved to second on a passed ball and to third with a ground out.  Matt Hague’s RBI single drove in the run.  Three singles in the 7th gave Los Toros their second run.  Hague also walked in the 4th inning.

 

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGE

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 3,  Venados de Mazatlan  2

Los Venados were first onto the scoreboard with a 2-run homer in the 6th.  Hermosillo came from behind with a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th, a run in the 8th to tie the score, and a walk-off solo home run by former Pirate C Humberto Cota in the bottom of the 9th.  RF Rogelio Noris went 0-for-3 for his home town Mazatlan.
