Hopefully the Mariners sign him today, Pirates need to bring in the 2 japanese imports – Wada and Wei-Yin Chen

Francis is better than either of those guys. Wada is a mid-80’s guy who is getting old fast and Chen has not returned to form after TJ surgery.

      Francis’ average fastball 2011 (84.7mph)

Pitch FX says 85.2 but his career norms are 87-88. Regardless his xFIP  was 4.29 with a 2.6 WAR. He’s basically a cheaper version of Maholm. I’d take that any day over the international guys. He’s the best SP in our price bracket now that Capuano has signed.

he is below average pitcher, just what the Bucs need to improve.  Does below average offense, defense and pitching equal above average team in some alternative universe?

I say, screw it, bring in Mcpherson now!  lol.

He’s not someone I’m interested in.  He’s injury prone and even when healthy is merely adequate.
