Plus, he is not the most clubhouse friendly person around. I’d rather see what some of the young boys can do.

Burnett is a workhorse who doesn’t burn out in the 5th inning. Hopefully McDonald can learn how to pace himself by watching Burnett. McDonald needs to get past the 6th inning on a regular basis before I will call him a good pitcher.

I also disagree in that I am thrilled we are keeping Brown. They just want salary relief so they can sign Raul Ibanez or Johnny Damon. They would have preferred Brown’s left-hand slugging though, and I don’t blame them.

The Yankees are just posturing, so as to try to get a better semi-prospect. They will take the 10 mil from the Pirates and like it! (in the words of Ted Knight from Caddyshack).

They know that Neal & the Bucs are being the most accomodating of any team, and I think they won’t hold out too long because they’ve dealt with Neal for good while and they know he is a fair man. They like having the Pirates around as a trading partners and won’t want to jeopardize any future dealings. Plus, Neal has been asking about Burnett since the off-season began.

This is a far cry from the dealings Littlefield and Bonifay had with other teams. Those guys couldn’t get any team to listen them.

I’ll be thrilled to have Burnett join the staff, and I’d seriously rather have him than Jackson anyday. I’ve followed his career from the beginning, and had A.J. on many championship fantasy teams since he threw that no-hitter as a rookie, he’s almost like an old dependable friend to me.

If the pirates can get him for the right price it will be a good deal.
