Doubles are an indicator of power when talking about younger players. Hague is 26 already and will be 27 in August. He’s basically at or very near his ceiling in terms of power production.

He should at least be a call up this year. If not for the mcgehee acquisition, he would be making the squad out of spring training this year in my opinion.

I disagree with that Arriba – perhaps not Puljos type quality, but I think the group is solid – more so than say 3B with Pedro. Not solid (yet).

I also don’t understand the hating on Hague – no september callup – whatever happened to doubles are power too, and a great indicator of future HR ability. Kid hits .309 with 37 doubles 12 dingers and a 370+ obp… His defense is pretty good too. I think he has a chance to be a decent player – a James Loney type. The only thing holding him back is Jones and McGehee which depending on how they perform this year, may be all he needs to get his shot.
