It seems that few outlets have a clue when it comes to evaluating the Bucs, Pirates Prospects gives one of the fairest evaluations of their talent, I might not always agree, but at least it never comes down to a bashing session.
People need to come to Bradenton themselves and see these kids before they make comments like we don’t have a SS or a 2nd Basemen or a 1st base prospect. They don’t have to have big names or be projected to be next Willy Mays to be very good baseball players. Hague is an example: he can hit and will turn out to be a solid good ballplayer, probably not a star, he is very much a Walker type player, so is Mercer, but the Pirates don’t need a team full of stars. Mercer is a solid ballplayer, I am sure everyone including the Pirates would like him to hit .350 and have 40 homeruns at AAA before they can call him up.

I’m with you on what you said. Regarding Martis, I have watched him pitch a lot, living here near Harrisburg (and watching the Nats on TV). I like him. He pitches inside and challenges hitters. Not bad for either a bullpen role, or AAA depth.

Both the Red Sox announcers and Buchholtz had nice things to say about Andrew.

Ryota, Slaten, EvansĀ and Boggs looked far from great IMO.

Barmes was far better than I expected. He took a throw as cutoff man and zinged it in to 2nd. No going through the motions for him. And he hit the ball better than I thought he would. Fox handled himself okay at 1st but looked like he borrowed some short, fat guys pants.

Pedro and Jones made some nice plays.
